the finger speaketh, again..

Starting with the latest, Mrs. Aamir Khan's "controversial" revelation about her insecurities and second thoughts of being a residential Indian, Mr. Aamir Khan's admission of the same at a public event and subsequent chaos…Even as a useless Indian, I feel overwhelmed and highly amused. My reasons are fourfold:

1. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right in our country. Nobody flinches an eye when all these politicians, Gandhi scion, over-efficient CM of UP and other whatnot's throw verbal lint at us. But if an innocent, hardworking man with no political agenda whatsoever tries to speak frankly, everyone suddenly unites in the spirit of patriotism.

2. Indian media (written, print & electronic) thrives on fodder like this. We have every news channel broadcasting Mr. Anupam Kher's, Mr. Vikram Bhatt's, Mr. Ravindra Jadeja's and Mr. Ram Gopal Verma's instantaneous albeit practiced reactions in a fit of frenzy. No offence media moguls and reporter guys, but the sensation quotient of your tirade and "Breaking News" is nowhere near Bigg Boss, Sasural Simar Ka and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. Time for a reality check, I would say. Learn from the pros how the audience is made to believe that BS could mean primetime entertainment. Awake and arise, artful a**holes! (Read the definition of journalism here)

3. Were we really so tolerant, why did we explode with criticism upon a candid admission? Isn't that a paradox which debases our own claim and reinforces Mrs. Khan's opinion?

4. The guy is getting lynched for honestly voicing the opinion of his wife (even though he refuted the same in his next sentence, but what the hell?!). Household dynamics have little bearing outside, Mr. Khan :D

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Khan, You have full right to express your insecurities/fears/apprehensions/candid thoughts. But do keep in mind that we also have just as much right to mock you, declare your opinions as un-Indian, even downright traitorous. We possess the right to declare that your hard work had little to do with your success and we are your primary benefactors. We will boycott Snap Deal, Tata Sky, Coca Cola etc. until the brand ambassador is someone more patriotic, so what if it's Mr. Kamaal Rashid Khan bringing in the promise of Big Billion Sale days. Do one thing, whenever any of you are having any thoughts, mull them over with Twitter & Fb literati verbally before dispensing off. Speaking from personal experience, not once has my blog ever generated even a shred of controversy in this nation or any of the remaining 195, notwithstanding the overall 11 readers of this blog globally (myself included). For Junaid, Ira & Azad, I would suggest raising them with a strong mind and stronger physique to cope with our democracy, media and sensible spouse. Aal ijj well...

Free advice hai, lena hai to lo!

Another revelation to me recently is that women on their menstrual cycles are not allowed inside temples. Supposedly, women tend to mar the holiness of God if freely let loose around at places of worship. Now what could a sane, seemingly hygienic women be possibly radiating during that time from which even God needs to be shielded?! We are probably living on the higher side of 20th century, yet we have not been able to develop any vaccine to deliver us from the average BS of the century 18th and backwards. Had this been touted by illiterates and/or the Gandhi scion, I would have discarded it without a second thought. But one of my better learned friends also considers things like PMS as taboo, and she is a woman.. What hope could we lesser mortals as mechanical engineers have in the face of such prejudice?!
Speaking of gender equality, could there be a frisking zone outside places of worship for Andropausal males? Are you listening, moral police and guardians of religions? Maybe the opponents of Section 377 could be appointed, thereby giving them worthy careers? Just food for thought..

  2. I think that the magnitude of rising intolerance which we perceive is far greater than what it actually is. The reason being 24*7 access to same sensationalized half baked news and online platform where everyone has an opinion of their own without acknowledging the complete truth .In addition we have our leaders who instead of handling the situation peacefully play with public sentiments and add more fuel to fire. Lets face the truth , this world is not ideal, there was and there will be friction among people unless we all have a complete knowledge of our respective religion. How is it possible that a country with a population of 1.29 billion has become intolerant overnight. Yes, looking at few government laws and right wing activities , it can be said that there is rising intolerance but relating every move with religion is something which is creating more tension across the country. To all those who are criticizing Amir Khan over his remark, i would suggest to you all to watch his interview first.

  3. If this precedent carries on then there is a good chance that
the world's overall economy can begin to recover, and if very easy then there
is the risk of a new fiscal low?

Invincible truth!!

As a young lad, once Subroto Roy Sahara was yelling at the washer-man for ruining a pair of his favourite jeans. His father, late Sudhir Chandra Roy, overheard him and came over. After listening to his son, he told his son to apologise to the washer-man... Later, his father explained to him the reason behind it. He said,"You only have a right to criticise somebody when you have the ability to do the very same work better than them. Only then can you question their shortcomings! And since you are no good when it comes to washing your laundry, you had no right to yell at the washer-man that way."

godlyk Gokarna..

Its time to leave for Gokarna, bags packed and all... We reach the railway station and scoot about here and there, wondering where our train is halting and why isnt the announcement being made??!! Upon enquiry, it turns out that that particular train isnt gonna show up and that we have been fooled, once more, by the Indian Railways. Heads down, red-faced, we finally decide on going by bus, a full 5-hours journey through the foothills of Goa and Kanataka. Luckily, we all got seats at the back..
