Had a roller-coaster month...
First of all, my laptop's motherboard got fried and has been recuperating at a dingy shop for two weeks now. The first two days were the most difficult ones, what with a distance from facebook and, of course, NFSMW.. By now, most of the excitement of updating and uploading on facebook has washed out(perhaps, for the best!)..
Next comes the interviews which were largely helpful in killing my confidence. One would expect their alumnae to extend a little moral support towards you when they are on the interview panel. But one certainly wouldnt expect them to throw lines like "I am here as an employee of this company, not your alumni". And it doesnt stop there.. Consider this. The very person sitting on the panel has been a 'god' at mechanical engineering stuff, considering he was the one who produced the most ambitious project till date. And he is working as a business analytic. Nothing wrong, I agree. But when that very same person grills you for sitting for that very comany despite having an "excellent mechanical background", its the height of hypocrisy!!
Anyways, the highlight of this month still remains getting a job at Honda Moto-Scooters India Ltd.
And the best part was that this job came in the nick of time for me, having bombed in four interviews already.
There were two of them on the panel, a learned gentleman and an elegant lady. The interview was more of a nightmare than an assessment. I had to quote lines from Srimad Bhagavad Gita... Even then, the lady looked doubtful as to whether I really followed the quoted lines ("Jay-parajay ka vichar tyagkar kartavya par dhyan do, dar apne aap door ho jayega!"). Otto-cycle, auto-ignition, cost-cutting in casting and difference between BHP and IHP were those that went against me. Disappointment was ripe on their faces until the very end of the interview. Then, I threw my last card on the table and asked them a genuine question. Moments like these come rarely in history, especially in a history like mine. The question actually stumped them and it was probably the only reason I was offered that job. Outboard engines rock! :-D
Feels good not to be jobless anymore...
On the other side, there is the head-banging prospect of appearing for CAT, hopefully clearing it and getting into a premier B-school. Quant has never been a friend to me and logical reasoning is a bloody traitor. That leaves out grammar and reading comprehension. While the latter may be moody, the former always swings against me. No matter what I do, I suck at correcting sentences and vocabulary. In fact, I m not completely sure whether an MBA is really the right track for me as of now. An MBA is the shortest cut to wealth, but I dont really have that much respect for money. Gotta keep digging!
